Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.1
DBT was originally intended to treat borderline personality disorder (BPD), but it has been adapted to treat other mental health conditions beyond BPD. It can help people who have difficulty with emotional regulation or are exhibiting self-destructive behaviors (such as eating disorders and substance use disorders).2 This type of therapy is also sometimes used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

She possesses a wealth of experience and expertise in treating trauma, as well as evidence-based approaches to other mood disorders. I’d trust her with the care of any of my loved ones!”

Ascend Counseling and Wellness
Rebecca worked with me during the worst traumas I have ever endured all happened within the same 3 months. Every week seemed like a new major trauma would happen before I could even process the last one. Rebecca's office was the only safe place in my life at the time. In addition, I’m neurodivergent, adding a layer of complexity.
Doing EMDR with Rebecca was gentle, quick and effective. We also did couples therapy in the most effective way that I’ve ever experienced. With Rebecca’s help and insight, we were able to overcome the problems that all previous counseling hadn’t been able to solve.
Rebecca is talented, intelligent, compassionate and very skilled. I have highly recommended to her to all my family and friends.
--CH, former client
I have known Rebecca in a professional capacity for approximately ten years.
In that time it has become abundantly clear that Rebecca is adept at
creating a safe and therapeutic environment and quickly identifying the
interventions that will best address the chief complaints.
Rebecca demonstrates advanced knowledge of evidence-based practices that are proven to be the most helpful approaches for client progress. She offers empathic, client-centered care with a straightforward, goal-oriented
approach that puts clients at ease and offers hope for the change they desire.
Additionally, she shows warmth and acceptance and
focuses her care on the patients' needs.
I would recommend Rebecca Phillips as a therapist, without reservation to my own friends and family. She is extremely caring and highly skilled.
